Hey Swamp Bloggers!
I hope you've had a great week! Remember that you can still sign up for H@TS (Dec. 29th-Jan. 1). A link will be located in this blog. Also, be praying for Swamp as we enter into the holiday season. There is currently a Swamp Corps team in Africa, and a Swamp Corps team will be heading out to Nicaragua over the New Year holiday.
With the holiday season in full force, we're in the season to give gifts. And with gifts there comes holiday shopping. Holiday shopping can be extremely stressful - from figuring out where to park at the store to deciding what to buy for your loved ones. To help alleviate some stress I've come up with 10 gifts that are bound to be meaningful to a Swamp lover. And, guess what? Some of them you don't even have to leave your house for.
Devotional Book - this is a great gift for a Swamp goer of any age. It is especially helpful for young campers who have interest in getting more into the Bible, but don't know where to start.
Photo Book - this is a really sweet gift for someone going on a Swamp Corps trip or just someone who has a lot of camp pictures.
Table Foosball or Ping Pong- Foosball and Ping Pong are basically Olympic sports in the Hart dining hall. While a full-sized set may be out of the question, a smaller, table version is a great alternative.
Polaroid Camera - Polaroid cameras are super in style right now and popular amongst campers and just teens in general. There's just something satisfying about an instant photograph.
H@TS - This is a great gift to give to a Swamp lover in 7th-12th grade. Plus, how cool would it be to make this a surprise gift on Christmas morning? Sign them up HERE!
New Bible - This gift is great for someone who doesn't have a Bible or whose current Bible has been through a lot. I know my own Bible has some water damage from being in a rain-soaked backpack at camp. (Sorry Mom and Dad.)
Volunteer a week at the Swamp - Volunteering is a great way to help give back to the Swamp. On February 1st, you can start signing up. And, you won't just be giving a gift to your own beloved Swamp goer, you'll be gifting the whole camp.
Christmas Themed Package - Ahh...The exhilaration of getting a package. If there's one thing Swampers love, it's mail. For an easy, fun gift, fill a package with Christmas candies and pastries along with some other stocking stuffers.
Donate to a Swamp Corps account - This is the perfect gift for someone going on a Swamp Corps trip. It can be extremely difficult to raise money for a trip, especially during the school year. A donation from a loved one is guaranteed to make anyone going on a trip extremely thankful. Visit the Swamp website to donate.
Give the gift of Summer camp - It's not too early to be thinking about Summer camp. A week at Summer camp is a great investment into the life of a child. With a week of camp you could be giving someone access to the best fun they'll ever have, lifelong friendships, and a place to meet God. A Christmas gift doesn't have to be for the whole week of camp. You can have your kids start a camp savings jar and give them a donation as a present. Either way, I'm sure they'll love it.
Until Next Week! And, good luck getting gifts!
Much Love & Respect, Julie
