Blog Post - Matthew Encarnacion

Camp Swamp

My name is Matthew Encarnacion. I've been attending the Swamp for six years now, and every time I leave camp, I leave with a certain feeling. It's a positive feeling. When I leave the Swamp I am filled by the Holy Spirit, and this feeling drives me to make a difference in my everyday life. The theme for this year was "Race". God has a "race" set out for everybody, but the theme wasn't only based on the race that God has set out for us. Mr. Jeff also talked about racism and prejudice. Racism is still a problem. Innocent people are still being killed just because they are a certain color. I was very encouraged by Mr. Jeff's lesson and his courage to stand up and speak out about these modern day injustices. I pray that I will be able to take what I learned and apply it to my everyday life.
