Hello Swamp Blog Readers!
My name is Julie Fields. For those of you who remember, Cory introduced me in his last blog. I have the privilege of being your new Swamp Blog Writer!
As I thought about what to write this week, I felt extremely humbled. This Summer has been incredible, and it seems almost impossible to put into words what it has meant. We studied out Proverbs and learned what it means to make choices. We learned about choosing what we believe, choosing our friends, and the choices God made to be with us. We also learned about the great power our choices possess. God even showed out and made history by having a Swamp Corps Team go to The Middle East. (I still can’t get over that one.)
We’ve seen God work, and we’ve come back wiser. We’ve enjoyed the company and encouragement of our friends. We’ve laughed, and cried, and had our souls refreshed. And yet, we still have to come home and make choices. We still have to choose which we value more, Lordship or worldliness. We still have to fight those private battles. This can seem disheartening, but, luckily, wisdom is always within reach.
“Out in the open wisdom calls aloud, she raises her voice in the public square; on top of the wall she cries out, at the city gate she makes her speech.”
“Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.”
As we return home and find ourselves faced with choices, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. Yet, wisdom is not something we find only at camp, and the power she possesses does not lessen when our circumstances change. Wisdom and God’s power are still just as great, if not more, when we choose to cling to them and use them when making difficult or unpopular choices. So, I encourage you this week, as you face life’s choices, to draw on wisdom and all she has to offer. God will not let you down when you choose His wisdom!
Until Next Week!
Much Love & Respect, Julie
