Full-Time Staff of 2016!

Cory Cole

Swamp Bloggers! We are ONE WEEK away from camp! The anticipation is real! I don't think anybody could possibly be more excited than this group of fun-loving and crazy counselors and workers that will be serving at camp all summer! Without further ado, I introduce to you The Swamp's full-time staff of 2016 (be warned, they really like care packages).

Hi! My name is Antoinette Ivy, but I go by Toni. I am 19 years old and attend Armstrong State University in Savannah, Georgia. One thing I truly love about camp is how free you can be there. You can completely be yourself and no one will judge you. I look forward to all the different types of campers and characters I will get to interact with this summer! If you want to send me a care package I love Sour Patch Kids, gummy words, beef jerky, and baked Lays (cheddar and sour cream)!

My name is Allison Collier. I am 19, and I go to the University of Georgia. There are so many things I love about camp, but my two favorite things are the relationships and the worship. I love learning from the other counselors and becoming a friend/big sister to the campers. Music is also really important to me. I am a Music Education major, and those who know me know that I love to dance especially while I am worshipping. Often when I am at church and I am really worshipping God, I am picturing myself at camp because the nature there connects me to my Maker in a way that few other things do. If any would be so kind as to send me a care package, I would really love Oreo's, Pringles, and a thoughtful card.

Hello! My name is Patrick Bovard. I am 19 years old and I am an education major at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This summer I will be serving as the head teen worker. One thing I love about camp is that camp is a place where campers can feel like they are believed in. One on the most encouraging things for me is when people have confidence in my ability, my character, or in who I will become. I look forward to being able to help the teen workers believe in their leadership and serving ability; as well as be confident in who they are with God. Care packages/mail is great because receiving gifts is the best way I feel loved. Anything given will encourage me, just make sure you provide a personal letter!

Hey ya'll! I'm Carmen, coming atcha from Charlotte, NC! Well, actually I'll be hailing from Greensboro soon #UNCG2020. I'm 18, fresh out of high school, and ready to dive into Swamp this summer! This is my first year working as a full timer and the anticipation could not be any more real. Ever since my first year as a camper from what seems like ages ago (really, like 8 years), camp was something I looked forward to every year. I love the realness you find at camp. Lifelong friendships are made because people find and can be their true selves and others celebrate that. I would be over the moon if I were to receive a letter (or better yet, a package)! Send me your favorite scriptures! And/or chips and gummies. But most of all, send your prayers for the campers and all the workers and staff.

Hey everyone!! My name is Jacob Williams, I'm 18 years old, and I live in Lawrenceville, Georgia. In August, I will be a freshman at the University of North Georgia in the beautiful city of Athens, Georgia. I love camp because it's a place where everyone can feel comfortable being themselves, and it gives everyone the chance to be the person God wants them to be. I'm looking forward to this summer because I can't wait to meet all of my amazing campers and create so many new, lasting friendships. I also love sour patch kids and spicy sweet chili doritos 😉.

Matthieu Jean-Baptiste, I'm 19 and I go to Midlands Technical College, I absolutely love that at camp it is all about being yourself, it's the place where as a young kid I was really able to come into myself. I'm really looking forward to the singing devo every week, it's the time that I feel closest to God when I'm singing to him and know he is hearing how much I love him, I love getting gummy candy in care packages and things of that nature.

Yo what up!!! It's Jake here! I am 19 years old and going into my junior year at Tennessee Tech University. However, I won't be 19 for long. I get to have my birthday at camp! There are many reasons I love camp and it's hard to understand where to start in describing them. I love the freedom about camp. You are free to be who you are. Not only that, but you learn to become comfortable with who you are. You learn how to be vulnerable and accepting of your strengths and limitations. You become free. You become you. I am looking forward to giving every ounce and drop of energy that I have to ensure that the campers have the best week of their life. Camp, here I come!!! P.S. Care packages are awesome. Letters are awesome. Swedish fish are awesome.

Hey everyone! My name is Jordan Nabors! I am 20 years old and live in Wilmington, North Carolina. I attend the University of North Carolina at Wilmington as a junior, where I study Athletic Training. Honestly, I am SO stoked for this summer with having the opportunity to serve at the Swamp for the whole summer again! I especially am just super ecstatic for all the new and wonderful friendships I'll be able to make at the Swamp as well. As the countdown until the start of Swamp continues to decrease, I look forward to all the laughs, the deep talks, the soccer and ultimate frisbee games, and singing devotionals (planned and spontaneous!). Also, just so you all know, my favorite things to get in a care package are cards and those groove Cheez-its! Be praying for an amazing and inspirational summer!

Hi! My name is Nick Rorabaugh. I am 20 years old and will be starting my third year at UGA this fall studying civil engineering. This will be my third year on full time staff and first year as a lifeguard. I am looking forward to having as much fun as possible this summer. Whether it's playing ultimate, teaching a bible class, or waiting in line for dinner I plan on enjoying each moment. I like any mail but for care packages I like letters, healthy snacks, and surprises.

Hey everyone! My name is Kendal and this is my second year being a full time counselor at The Swamp. I am 19 years old and I plan to attend Florida State College in the fall. So I LOVE camp beyond measure. It has provided a safe place for me through my young teenage years. And during those times, it has shown me what my true potential could look like as a disciple of Christ. Now that I am on the opposite side of the spectrum as a counselor, I am excited to see how God will work on each campers heart this year. Also, I love dodgeball! Favorite thing in a care package: If it can make me laugh, then you've done a good job. And Sour Patch Kids: Watermelon

HEY Y’ALL! My name is Jesse McKay and I am 21 (people keep telling me that means I’m old.. I don’t think so) and I’m a rising senior at UGA. This will be my 15th summer at camp and my 5th summer as a part of the fulltime staff. So as you can image, I have endless memories here. I can’t use words to describe how important and special camp is to me. I look forward to spending time with your children, because they are AMAZING and camp is camp because of them (the kingdom of heaven belongs to them! Matthew 19:14). And I’m looking forward to DANCING! I love getting letters, healthy snacks and the occasional zebra cake in a care package. I can’t wait to see how God reveals Himself this summer! See y’all soon!

Hey y’all, my name is Kyle Roepe, I am 19 and a sophomore at the University of North Georgia. I’m very excited to be a full-time counselor again this summer because camp is my second home, just like most of the other counselors and campers. Camp always brings good times and this year I am ecstatic that we are having the Swamp Olympics again. I am a total sports guy, so this summer I’m looking forward to the competition of the different events. Sports brings people together and unites people in such a cool way, so I’m looking forward to people building strong relationships through the events. I’m also looking forward to dominating the campers in the Camper vs. Counselor basketball game, it’s going to be a great summer! And I love Gatorade, Oreos, Barbecue chips, and anything homemade in my care packages.

Hola! My name is Alanis Espinosa. I am 19 years old and am a rising sophomore at the University of Georgia. I am SO excited to be on the full-time staff this year, it's been a vision of mine since camp made its first imprints on my heart as a tiny 9 year old camper. I am looking forward to getting to know all of my precious campers week by week, laughing with them, taking care of them, and helping them have a stellar time at camp! I adore everything about The Swamp and I'm blessed that God has given me this opportunity to essentially live here for two months. Oh and as far as things I love to receive in a package...I really like Luna Bars (I'm a gluten free gal), sour patch kids, Trolli sour gummy worms, Mott's gummies, bracelets, and Yorks. Just to give an idea 😊 Thank you! Pray for no snakes and no breaks and let's rock this summer!

My name is Abby and I am 20 years old. I'm currently not in school but I am working at a bakery. I am overjoyed to be able to be at The Swamp all summer making sure all the campers have a blast. My favorite thing about The Swamp is the close relationships you build with all ages. Another favorite thing of mine is hearing my name called at mail time and receiving a package full of Hersey almond chocolate (even if it melts) as well as any type of dried fruit.

Hello all! My name is Jeana Rose. I am 19 years old and I just finished my freshman year at the University of Georgia (shout out to all my fellow Dawgs). I am so excited to be spending my summer at the place where I, along with many others, have discovered myself and found God. Camp has one of the most carefree environments I have ever experienced and I love how people can be themselves, whether it's dancing or singing or playing chess or just laughing at nothing. My favorite thing is the fact that kids can come and connect with God how THEY connect with God. Camp has taught me that your relationship with God is just that- yours. Seeing kids discover this and remembering how I discovered it is what I'm most excited for this summer.

Hi! My name is Ariana Holt! I'm 19 years old and a sophomore at Georgia State University (Go Panthers!). I'm really looking forward to meeting my campers, watching them grow in their relationship with God and being the person they truly are with no judgement. Some things I would love to get in my care package are Sour Patch Kids, tropical Starbursts, mint Oreos and encouraging notes!

Hey guys!! My name is Julie Fields. I’m 19 years old and a sophomore at the University of Georgia. I’m currently pursuing a degree in Journalism with a minor in Spanish. I’m so ecstatic to be at camp this Summer, and to meet all of you! I’ve been coming to the Swamp since I was 10, and it has always been a place of great memories, strong friendship, and spiritual growth. Some of my favorite things about camp are the starlight devotional, laser tag, and lip syncs! Some of my favorite things to get in a care package are chocolate, sour patch kids, Hot Cheetos, and hand-written letters. I’m really looking forward to this Summer and all that God has planned. Can’t wait to see you all in just a few short weeks!!

Hi, my name is Michael Hearn and I'm twenty years old. I go to the University of Georgia (Go Dawgs). I am looking forward to encouraging people to pursue their dreams and be the best them they can be. I am also looking forward to making friends with brothers and sisters from all over the world. The ideal care package for me world be to get a box of letters for me to open with poems or quotes or song lyrics or things or words to encourage me and make me think.

I also like burgers.

***Matt has requested you narrate his paragraph in Morgan Freeman's voice***

This is a first for Matt Long on the full time staff this summer. He's very excited to be working the media, taking photographs and making new memories at his home away from home. He enjoys reading by candlelight and eating Ferrer Rocher chocolates. You can read more about Matt's hope and dreams as The Swamp photographer in the blog Mr. Cory Cole wrote about him a couple months ago by clicking here.

Hi, my name is Chandler Ward; I'm a 20 year old rising senior at the University of South Carolina studying Athletic Training. I've loved growing up coming to the Swamp as a camper because of the constant excitement and energy and all of the friends that surround you at camp (which I never could fully appreciate until I got back home and there was nothing to do). I'm looking forward to all of the laughs, the games, the deep chats and connections and the memories that will be made this Summer! P.S. If you love me and want to send me a care package I suggest protein bars, the entire country of South Africa or roses. Actually, anything in a package is bound to make me cry tears of joy!
Thank you, hold it down.

Hey guys! My name is Matilde Rodgers, and I can’t wait to be spending this summer with all the wonderful campers at The Swamp! I am 19 years old, and I am an upcoming 2nd year at the University of Georgia. The Swamp has always had a special place in my heart. Though it is not perfect, I do believe Camp is the closest ‘on earth’ representation of heaven as possible. This year, I am looking forward to watching campers, who have never met prior to that week, become the best of friends by Saturday. I totally believe that is God working in those camper’s hearts. I would be extremely encouraged if you guys sent me a care package! I love teriyaki beef jerky (I know they’re so unhealthy haha), Oreos, Cheez-its, black and white friendship string, and bubbles : ) I can’t wait to see you this summer!!

What's up everyone, my name's David Fleurant and I'm a 20 year old rising junior at the University of Texas San Antonio. This will be my first time being a full time counselor & I'm super excited! This will be my 5th summer in a row coming to The Swamp; before I was a camper, worker and volunteer counselor. I love to play any sport and just have a ton of fun. Can't wait to have the best summer ever at The Swamp!

I'm Chad Mathis, I'm 19, and I go to College of Charleston. The thing I love most about camp is that God can be seen everywhere at camp and how evident it is that he is working there. I would love Oreos, Goldfish, chips, animal crackers, and really any type of food in a care package.

Hello Swampers! My name is Rachel Hawkins, I am from Cartersville, Georgia but will be a sophomore at Georgia State in the fall! I have been going to The Swamp since I was 10! I remember camp was always such a safe place for me to go every summer and I always experienced a kind of love and encouragement that I have yet to experience any where else! The people God has placed in my life through camp have been the most crucial to me discovering my need for a relationship with God! I am so excited to be there all summer!! My favorite part of camp are the singing devotionals! If you feel inclined to send a care package my way I would love Chex Mix, trail mix, and Cliff bars!!
...

My name is Ashley Bowman! I am about to be a senior at University of North Carolina Wilmington and I am a Special Education major. This is my third year as a full time counselor. One of my favorite things about camp is that everyone has the opportunity to be themselves. The Swamp is a place where someone can act or be who ever they want and nobody judges them for it. One of my fondest camp memories was last year when I was counseling Girls Cabin 7. They would all come into the counselor area and sit in my bed and we would talk about everything! I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to be at camp all summer again and I cannot wait to see what this summer will bring!

I'm Michael Williams, I'm 18 years old, and I'm a rising sophomore at University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). Camp is my true favorite place on Earth. While the food is a close second (that stuff is so good), what I look forward to most is seeing all of the campers this summer. I already know so many and I'm excited to build on those friendships, and I'm also super excited for everyone that I will meet, especially those in the cabins I counsel. If you send me a package make sure you include some hot Cheetos and Takis, but send some water too because I'm a wimp.

...
My name is Benjamin Casazza, I'm 20 years old, and I'm Head Erwin Worker this summer! I just finished my second year of college at the University of North Georgia studying computer science. This is will be the fourth year that I'll be lucky enough to work with the hardest working people I know, and my friends, Erwin and Debbie Clark. While the summers I work out at The Swamp are not without their challenges, they have had a huge impact on my character and my relationship with God. I'm looking forward to this great opportunity, that I do not deserve, to serve God and grow close to others. It's gonna be lit.

I'm Creighton Arrington and I'm 22! I love watching the growth of the campers and the staff of camp from the beginning to the end of each of the weeks. What I look forward to most is dodgeball every night, and I love Sour Skittles!!!!

These guys are already out at camp forming a strong bond as a team, cleaning the camp grounds, preparing for Family Camp later this week, and for all the campers coming out this summer! Pray for these guys this week, and as usual, pray for no snakes and no breaks :) Again be on the lookout for camper blogposts starting next week!
