I'm sooooo excited and grateful to be coming home as a counselor for another summer. I can't wait to get to know you and to learn about God together! I think that's my favorite thing about camp, how it's so easy to fall in love with God all over again. It's also easy to fall in love with mail, so if you want to send something my way, I love chocolate, gummies, any kind of Doritos, and insight into God and His word. Here's to the best summer yet and no snakes or breaks!!
Hi! My name is Jordan Nabors! I am 21 years old and am currently a senior at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. I can’t tell you how excited I am for this summer to be at camp! Though, just so you can get to know me a little bit, I love to sing! And I mean at any time of day, especially to the car radio, however off key it might be! Also, one of my favorite care package items of all time are Mega Stuffed Oreos! I won’t say no to a good crispy apple though either! I have high hopes and dreams for this summer at Camp Swamp, and I know that God has a great plan for all the people come through this summer!
My name is Caroline Rigdon and I'm this summer's full time head worker! I'm 18 years old and will be starting my freshman year at UGA this fall. Hi! My name is Julie Fields. I’m 20 years old, and I’m going into my junior year at the University of Georgia. I’m currently majoring in journalism and minoring in Spanish. This will be my second year doing full-time at The Swamp, and I am super excited for another awesome summer! My favorite things to do include jamming to music (especially blasting it on long car rides), chilling in nature, and hanging out with my friends in downtown Athens. One of my favorite things about camp is that it really gives you the space to become yourself. I also love that camp is a place where you can connect with God in whatever way YOU need. I’m looking forward to having fun with all you awesome campers this Summer and learning your favorite things about camp! Oh, and if you ever want to make my day, I love chocolate, sour patch kids, and handwritten letters in care packages.
Hey everyone, my name is Alex Roman and I'm grateful to have the opportunity be a part of the Swamp full-time staff this year! I am 19 years old and live all the way down in South Florida. I recently graduated college with my bachelor’s degree in Biology about a month ago (it's a long story hahah), but boy am I glad to be done! I've had incredible experiences on HOPE medical/service brigades and Swamp Corp trips but this is a first: to be counseling at THE SWAMP! Something you should know about me is that I love spending time with others, whether it be fishing, drawing, or even playing soccer, I'm always up for anything. Some fun facts: I love FOOD (both eating and cooking it), I have a giant sweet tooth, and I've been a disciple for 5 years now! I'm looking forward to making great new friendships at camp and being able to bring back home what I learned here

What's up y'all! It's Jake here! I am 20 years old and going into my senior year at Tennessee Tech University. I am super excited to serve on the fulltime staff again. There are many reasons I love camp and it's hard to understand where to start in describing them. I love the freedom about camp. You are free to be who you are. Not only that, but you learn to become comfortable with who you are. You learn how to be vulnerable and accepting of your strengths and limitations. You become free. You become you. I am looking forward to giving every ounce and drop of energy that I have to ensure that the campers have the best week of their life. Camp, here I come!!! P.S. Care packages are awesome. Letters are awesome. Swedish fish are awesome.

I'm insanely excited to be a part of the full time staff this year and to meet all my awesome campers!!!
Matt has requested you imagine his paragraph to be read in voice of Morgan Freeman
For the second year in a row, 20-year-old film major James Matthew Long has decided to spend his summer exercising his photographic talents at the only place he can call home: Camp Swamp. Matt will be capturing all the precious and joyous moments this summer has to hold this summer, be sure to check out the Camp Swamp Flickr page that he will be uploading all pictures to. In addition to photography, Matt fancies long walks on the beach, enjoys dancing to salsa music, and is an avid fan of Sam Abernathy.
I'm Gabriel, and I am really excited about counseling full time this year. I'm 18 years of age, however I’ll be 19 by the end of camp.I really love sports, especially those that involve a lot of running. However aside from sports, I love dance, art and shopping. However if I had to choose what I’d like in a care package, I'd choose fruits or even cookies. I'm definitely looking forward to meeting all of my campers and co-counselors!
Hi everyone!! My name is Morgan Vance, and I am so grateful to serve as the "dish girl" this summer :) This fall, I will be moving to Athens, Georgia and attending the University of North GA. I'm a member of Cornerstone Church and have been a camper, teen worker, and/or counselor at the swamp for the past 9 years. Being at camp has always been the highlight of my year and it has played a huge role in building my faith and love for people. I also enjoy traveling with my family, going shopping, and hanging out with friends. Some of my favorite care packages gifts are twizzlers, hot cheetos, and blow pops. I can't wait to meet all of you and have a blast this summer!!
Hey y'all! My name is Amelia Veal and I am honored to be a part of the 2017 full time staff as a counselor and lifeguard! I am 17 and an upcoming freshman at the University of North Georgia. I absolutely love the friendships built at camp that seem to come so easy because of the one thing we have in common- our love for Jesus. I love the quality time with one another, away from all the distractions of the world. I love being in the middle of nowhere, admiring and worshipping in God's creation. I also love a good game of ultimate frisbee! I couldn't be more excited to serve this summer at my favorite place!
Hey y'all! My name is Jordan LaFrance. This is my second summer as a full-time worker for Erwin. I will be a freshman at UNG in the fall. I'm super excited to be serving at camp again this summer and I'm so grateful to be able to work with the same hardworking Erwin crew from last year. We've become sorta like a brotherhood and most of our work is done behind the scenes. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life but also one of the best things I've done because working here has really taught me how to sacrifice in order to serve God's purpose. Also if you would like to send me a care package I would LOVE some skittles and/or Gatorade and/or granola bars! See you guys soon! Peace out!

If you come to camp you will probably find me dancing through the aisles during meals or cleaning up a spill (I spill a lot). Come see me this summer at camp!!!!
My name is Connor Helton and I am a rising junior at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville studying kinesiology. I am 20 years old and love to be outdoors! I love rock climbing, camping, hiking, whitewater rafting, snowboarding, and pretty much anything else you can do outside. I find the most connection with God in the nature that he created. I also enjoy playing any kind of sport and staying active. I also probably watch too much Netflix. I am going to be a full time counselor and lifeguard at camp this summer, and I'm looking forward to giving back to the camp that gave me so much in my spiritual walk as I was growing up. If anyone was looking to send me a care package this summer my favorite treats are: starburst jellybeans, skittles, sour patch kids, and 3 musketeers! I am excited to serve this summer and hopefully inspire campers in the same way that so many counselors did for me as a kid. I was able to see that disciples of Jesus could be fun and cool at a young age, so hopefully I can do the same for others!
Hey guys, My name is Matthieu Jean-Baptiste, I'm 20 years old and I'm a junior at The University Of South Carolina this coming fall, I can't wait for the summer, Camp Swamp has been a place that has taught me how to be secure in myself and I'm so grateful God has given me the opportunity to be there for another whole summer. I love the activities at the swamp but most of all I love to play soccer, it may not be the most popular sport in America but to me it's the best thing in the world! I also love getting cookies and cream chocolate in care packages (hint, hint). I'm really looking forward to this summer and being able to help the kids have a great (and safe) time.

I'll have been a disciple for 8 years on May 31st, and this'll be my twelfth summer at camp! I've never been a full time counselor though, so I'm really excited. I can't wait to see all of your faces!
Hi, my name is Mychaela Williams and I'm working as a counselor this summer! I'm 22 years old and just graduated with degrees in music and psychology from UNCG in Greensboro, NC. This will be my second time on the full-time staff, and I am so grateful for the opportunity to love, serve, and build deep connections at camp! I enjoy reading, singing, and making sure people have tons of fun! (If you're honoring me with goodies, I enjoy Hot Cheetos, Takis, and Sour Patch Kids.) I'm excited to be able to serve camp this summer and work with an awesome staff to create a safe place for kids to love God, love themselves, and have fun!
I am 18 and a rising senior in Clarke Central High School. I am apart of Erwin’s Crew and our purpose is to keep the camp safe, presentable, and running to make sure that campers have the best Swamp experience ever. What I love about the Swamp is that I am able to feel this peace when I'm here because I don't have to deal with the insecurities of this world. Every time I've gone here I have had the best experience ever and it was always a little taste of heaven.
My name is Justin Hicks and I’m 19! I am a second year at UNCC- University of North Carolina at Charlotte. My reason for being at Camp Swamp this summer is to serve God, to give back to a place that has given me so much over the years, and to have fun with the campers and staff!
My name is Benjamin Casazza, I'm 21 years old, and I'm Head Erwin Worker this summer! I just finished my third year of college at Kennesaw State University studying computer science. This is will be the fifth year that I'll be lucky enough to work with the hardest working people I know, and my friends, Erwin and Debbie Clark. While the summers I work out at The Swamp are not without their challenges, they have had a huge impact on my character and my relationship with God. I'm looking forward to this great opportunity, that I do not deserve, to serve God and grow close to others. It's gonna be lit.
Energized, excited and prepared, these guys are ready to make this the summer of a lifetime! Please be praying for this amazing group of individuals, pray that God may bless camp this summer, and pray for no snakes and no breaks! Be on the lookout for daily camper blogposts starting next week!
It has truly been a pleasure, Swamp Blog readers. Thanks for reading as always, now let's have a great summer!
