Hey Swamp Blog Readers!
I hope you're having a beautiful day. This week I wanted to switch things up and create a list of ten ways to re-create Swamp at home! Hopefully something on this list will be able to cure your Swamp withdrawals. And, if you're looking for an extra dose of Swamp, make sure to sign up for Swamp's 25th Anniversary Celebration. Details and a link to tickets are below.
Note: Some of these activities may require adult supervision.
Here are ten ways to re-create Swamp at home! While these obviously won't be able to replicate camp entirely, I'm sure they'll give you some nostalgic camp feelings.
1. Go out in nature.
Ah. The great outdoors. Being outside in nature is the perfect time to unplug, connect with God, or just admire the beauty of the outside world.
2. Make your favorite camp food!
There's so much you could do for this one! Make some s'mores on the stove, stick some fruit snacks in the freezer. You could even make a homemade Potjie!
*The beef and cauliflower Potjie seems fairly similar to what we have done at camp, give or take a few ingredients.
3. Have your own devotional with God.
There's no reason you can't have your own starlight devotional in your backyard. Or, you can invite friends over for a singing devotional! Add in a few instruments and a songbook, and you'll be set.
4. Make some friendship bracelets!
This one will definitely put you in the camp mood! Plus, you can send them in the mail to your camp friends you haven't seen in a while.
5. Encourage someone.
You can have a mini ring of honor with your family or friends. Or, you can write someone a card. This is great to do all year round!
6. Play your favorite camp game.
Start up a game of dodgeball. Create a homemade nine square. Play a couple games of Mafia. The possibilities are endless.
7. Revisit this summer's Bible class lessons.
If you didn't know, these lessons are on the camp website. Re-visit the idea of choice here:
8. Listen to camp music.
Jam out to your favorite camp tunes. Download the Swamp playlist ("Swamp Be LIT YALL" on Spotify.) This can be a great playlist for number 10!
9. Play a card game.
Honestly, I forget how fun this can be. Fruit Salad anyone?
10. Have a DANCE PARTY!!
Relive Friday nights at camp with a dance party!! You can jam out with your headphones in or invite your friends. You could even see about making it a teen or middle school event. Oh, and don't forget the snow cones and glow sticks!
That's all for this week! Hope you guys got some inspiration from this list!
We are THREE WEEKS AWAY from The Swamp's 25th Anniversary Celebration!!! * cue fireworks *
If you haven't heard the news, camp is hosting a giant 25th birthday party in honor of 25 years of camp! The celebration will be at the Georgia Freight Depot in Atlanta on October 29th. Attendees will include international camp directors, alumni of all ages, and we hope, you! It's going to be a great time. Not to mention, we will be having a camp-style singing devotional and barbecue for lunch! Click the link below to learn more and purchase tickets.
